Accessibility Information.

We are very concerned about accessibility for everyone to be able to attend TolkienMoot. We hope in future years to be able to resume running this event at a form location that provides all accessibility concerns.

Currently, unfortunately, Tolkien Moot is run in a home residence.

Remember, Tolkien Moot is a peer-volunteer run event, there is no business entity of any kind, and everything is made possible through the support of fellow participants.

This year we acquired a wheelchair ramp to address the entry stairs to the main level of the house.

The front door is just barely 32" wide, but opens into a wider foyer sufficient to maneuver.

We just measured the doors and found the following frustrating obstacles:

Bathroom (3 bathrooms) doors too narrow, from 31" down to 27".

While the RPG Trailer is able to be easily entered for gaming via the rear ramp, the bathroom and side door need to be remodelled (which has to go through a lengthy approval process by Washington State Labor & Industries). We do plan to make these changes as soon as we can raise the money to do so.

We are hoping next year to move TolkienMoot from the residential setting back to a public venue next year. In doing so, we will make certain that the location is fully wheelchair friendly.

For other accessibility concerns, we do have a few people with various levels of American Sign Language skills but do not have an interpreter. We would welcome anyone wishing to volunteer to help provide this.

Since most of the activities are spoken, those with vision impairment can participate in our activities, though obviously we would need you guidance on what we can do to help facilitate your attendance.

For any other accessibility concerns, questions, requests, suggestions, please do email our loose group of volunteers: tolkienmoot at gmail dot com.
